Honeymoon Cove is a shore accessible salt water dive site, located at 2804 Paseo Del Mar, Palos Verdes Estates, CA 90274. This dive site has an average rating of 4.38 out of 5 from 8 scuba divers. The maximum depth is 41-50ft/12-15m. The average visibility is 16-20ft/5-6m.

With a nice short hike, it being the third easiest hike in the interesting coastlines of Palos Verdes. Hike time approx 7 mins up the trail in dive gear, easy to get 2 or 3 dives in for divers in shape. Shore is protected from NW swells. Clear water in shallow rocky cove approx 10-15ft deep going far outermost kelp edges to find 40ish feet and has the capability of 45 ft viz. Could be classed as an advanced dive, due to the hike and cobblestone entries. Low tides leave slippery rocks. Water quality gives rise to a advanced training site. Quite interesting!

Tromptista - 8/17/2012 2:28 PM I went scuba diving here on 8/17/2012. Average viz: 11-15ft/3-5m. Water temp: 66-70°F/19-21°C. Dive # - Today was a right at the edge day at Honeymoon. The projected South swell turned out to be a West swell. Therefore there were sets of waves breaking directly into the cove. Fortunately the high tide was at about 10 am which made our entry and especially exit easy. Surf forecast was 1.5. We went directly west since it looked like the surge would be heavy off of the southern point. The warm was incredibly warm but visibility was diminished very green water on the way out and we basically got separated into our buddy groups almost immediately upon descent. We headed out and located an amazing wall and swim through structure at about North / West side of the cove. Very nice dive with the guys from NBTT. Get out and dive with us. Dives # & , Low tide moving to High, No Surf, Light Swell, amazing viz except for the brilliant sparkling filled water column full of salps and other variety of jelly fish. This attracted the most marine life I can remember there at honeymoon. Batray, harbor seals, guitar fish, leopard shark, yellow fin tuna, and much more. Our hunting was also very successful. I tool home a well earned healthy size kelp fish. Just another reminder why Honeymoon cove is one of the best shore sites in Southern California. Great dive with the guys from NBTT. Tromptista - 7/27/2012 3:03 PM I went scuba diving here on 7/27/2012. Average viz: 16-20ft/5-6m. Water temp: 61-65°F/16-18°C. Dive # 280 - Great summer day for a dive and hunt at Honeymoon Cove. The tide was low making the entry a little slower then usual finding the footing on the stones. Then we went north and then west and dropped down just before the kelp forest in the middle of the cove. We hope to get some sand bass as we passed the sea urchin bed but no luck there instead found a weight pouch with 6 lbs in it. It had been there for sometime. We hit the kelp forest and there along a wall we found lots of fish. Javy got a female sheep head and I got a sand bass a a couple scallops. On our way back we were spied on by a couple playful harbor seals. Great nice long relaxing Friday dive. Get out and dive with us. (http://www.nbttdiveclub.com)

Dive # - It was a great evening for a night dive at Honeymoon after a hot day inland. We arrived about 6:30 PM to high tide and 1 ft surf. We kicked out and dropped down going South / South East and drove right next to the wall right next to it all the way passed the point and near Christmas tree cove already. Tromptista - 6/18/2012 9:26 AM I went scuba diving here on 6/17/2012. Average viz: 21-25ft/6-8m. Water temp: 61-65°F/16-18°C. Dive # - The surf was low and almost high tide on an overcast fathers day. The visibility near the entry showed promise for excellent visibility. Entry was effortless and kicked over to the west side of the cove and dropped down going north which took us too shallow so we went back west and hit the wall. The wall was full of life and excellent vis we encountered an octopus, several lobster, and a baby harbor seal that buzzed us a few times. Tromptista - 6/11/2012 8:19 AM I went scuba diving here on 6/10/2012. Average viz: 11-15ft/3-5m. Water temp: 61-65°F/16-18°C. Great turn out for NBTT Divers at Honeymoon cove. Get out and dive with us (http://www.nbttdiveclub.com). It wasnt the most ideal conditions for entry with low tide rigth at 9 am and west through more south west swell coming into the cove. It was took a little more effort for the entry but then was an easy kick over. We passed the mini wall I was aiming for but we got decent viz and sort of stayed to together for a very long dive. A decent amount of fish. Just good to be back at the cove!

Tromptista - 5/21/2012 12:53 PM I went scuba diving here on 5/20/2012. Average viz: 11-15ft/3-5m. Water temp: 56-60°F/13-16°C. First boat dive side mount, dive at far west outside honeymoon cove a nice terraced wall similar to backside of bird rock, Catalina. Despite forecast of sun and light swell the was not as flat as anticipated and did not get any significant sun through the thick marine layer.The viz was limited and not much marine life but the spot has a lot of potential with better viz. Lots of anemone and nudibranchs. Seems that warmer water has not reached palos verdes yet. Was warm shallower than 30 feet but DAMN cold deeper. Tromptista - 3/12/2012 8:13 AM I went scuba diving here on 3/11/2012. Average viz: 11-15ft/3-5m. Water temp: 50-55°F/10-13°C. Low tide, some higher than normal surf and decent swell rolling directly and toward the NW corner of the cove. We went to the outer reef directly west. Decent viz and enough fish, even a 3 ft horn shark, a seal, nice leisurely dive through the various kelp patches and we managed to keep our group of 6 together despite the somewhat limited viz and some times thick forest. Slight Surge by the wall and swell direction was W / NW. Low Tide (not the easiest of entries to due very low tide) . Tromptista - 12/26/2011 8:32 PM I went scuba diving here on 12/26/2011. Average viz: 11-15ft/3-5m. Water temp: 56-60°F/13-16°C. Good opportunity to test new strobe in more typical California diving conditions. Top side visibility was good while the visibility at bottom was churned up. Lots of fish were about and surge was strong especially near the wall, moderate to heavy at times. The water was a bit chilly around 57 and the seas were relatively calm. It’s one of those sites from the inside to the outside is always a blast diving with NBTT!!

Ken, Janna, and Lukas and me, Mike, and Chris. Easy entry and nice dive along the wall and through the kelp. Ken thought that he may have seen a large shark 4-5ft possibly a mako? Saw and photographed 4 ft leopard shark twice on first dive and then a very large school of barracuda on the 2nd dive. The water is starting to get cold so tried to stay shallow near on above the wall in front of the point.
