Three Coal Barges - Pensacola FL

Loading...
Three Coal Barges is a boat accessible salt water dive site, located in Pensacola, FL. This dive site has an average rating of 3.67 out of 5 from 12 scuba divers. The maximum depth is 51-60ft/16-18m. The average visibility is 26-30ft/8-9m.

These three barges lie end-to-end in water less than 50 feet deep. A variety of marine life inhabitat the area.

Actually the depth averages 50 ft. There use to be a large turtle that hung out there and was very aggressive. Some A?? shot him a couple years ago. I remember one dive we made there I was watching my buddy moving in the hold of the barge which was basically beams and cross members no plates and he was about to shoot a grouper and the turtle came up behind him and grabbed him by the fin and pulled him out of the wreck. I almost drowned laughing because my buddy thought it was me.

That same turtle bit the mask off a diver one weekend. He got use to being fed by the mindless spearfishing divers who thought it was cool to feed him.

Was there 9/25/15. Not much wreck left - mostly sand, though it may depend on where your dive master anchors to. Not much sealife therefore. Viz was good. A pleasant second dive maybe, but due to lack of structure and depth (40-50) may be best suited for newbies

Ok dive. Did this May 5, 2014, 68 degree water, 40 feet of viz. not a lot of wreck structure left but good marine life. Easy second dive, shallow and you can enjoy decent bottom time.
