Stage 2 is an old Naval platform 1.75 nautical miles off shore (30°07.2’N, 85°46.4’W), similar to an oil rig without the drilling. As time and storms began to take their toll on the structure the decision was made to demolish it. The site consists of a jumble of steel legs and pipes from 50′ to 30′ and in all directions. Bring a compass to return to the correct spot!
History: The platform; which was built in 1956 and installed in mid-1957, consisted of 9 piles and was 60’ x 80’ x 36’. The platform was demolished with controlled detonations between 10-13 of August, 1984.
