So is the consensus the best place to put in is at Landa RV and drift to Prince Somal Park or where does Landa pick up at (last Public Exit ) ?

Yes, that is the longest dive possible I know: enter = (29.706658, -98.130118) exit = (29.703882, -98.115665). Here is a video of the dive: youtu.be/a_Kdog4Pglw The first mile is rough and tumble and the last mile is just drifting and chill (so don’t forget your favorite beverage).

I went scuba diving here on 8/5/2018. Average viz: 11-15ft/3-5m. Water temp: 71-75°F/22-24°C.
Water was slow and shallow this time, diving past the tube chute was very difficult because of depth. Slow flow made it easy to swim back upstream to look for treasures. Found 2 sunglasses, a pocket knife, and a flask. Much less trash than usual, must have been a recent clean up.

I went scuba diving here on 7/29/2017. Average viz: 16-20ft/5-6m. Water temp: 76-80°F/24-27°C.
Found 10 pairs of sunglasses, gave 4 away. Entered at landa falls RV park (charged me 15$ this time) exited at Prince Somal cause I used all my air treasures hunting. Landa RV doesn’t have a shuttle at Prince Soma so I had to walk back. Really love this dive. It was way better on a weekday though

Amazingly fun. Parked at entered at Landa RV (5$ including shuttle ride back). So many things to look at. Found a few treasures (googles, bracelet, hat). Had to get out at the scuba chute and the rest of the way to the last public exit was shallow and fast moving current, but I had so much fun. Lots of tubers even on a weekday morning, will definitely be going back.

I just dove this rive for the first time last week on July 2nd. We planned on the 2 car, but we missed the exit at Prince Solms park. We paid $10 at Landa Falls to enter the water, which paid off since we ended up at the last public exit and rode the Landa Falls shuttle back to Landa Falls. In my opinion, Landa Falls to Hinmann/Prince Solms park is the best part of the river to dive. After the large tube chute the water is to shallow.

The shuttles are always running. It was a busy weekend for tube rentals and there were many shuttles. There was no schedule, it seems like shuttles were always in motion. One of our plans was to leave one person with all the gear while the other person walked to get the car. On a side note, we were asked by many to help recover their dropped items. We tried but could not find their lost items. We did find sunglasses and swim masks.

We drifted with an AL80 and it was more than enough. I think I used only half the tank between Landa Falls and Prince Solms Park. If/when I go back to the Comal, I will not go past Prince Solms park. We were in the water for 2+ hours including the floating. The drift dive between Landa Falls and Prince Solms park was a 1 hour dive.

I went scuba diving here on 7/2/2017. Average viz: 11-15ft/3-5m. Water temp: 71-75°F/22-24°C.
The air temp was 95 degrees, I could have used a 3mm or less. We paid $10 to enter at Landa Falls, and that included the shuttle ride back. There is much fish and river life to see between Landa Falls and Hindman Island. We did not go down the tube chute at Prince Solms Park. We should have ended the dive at Prince Solms Park. The depth was 3 feet from that Prince Solms Park until the last public exit. We just floated until the last exit. We caught the shuttle back to Landa Falls with dive gear on.

If I start my drift dive at Landa park, where is the exit? How to identify the exit? My dive buddy and I want to dive there on July 2nd. Anyone want to join us? The more the merrier.

Cool ambient temperature 64 degrees and 74 water temperature . Took Garret metal detector and found Samsung galaxy note 7 phone, .45 lead ball, coins, lead weighs and a bunch of beer cans.

With a 5/4 mm wetsuit s it too cold to dive the river in February or March?

The water is 70s all year so the same suit works with any season. What you need is a little luck to get pleasant air temps.

dove here with Dive World, San Antonio. fun dive ... current is steady, but not overwhelming. viz is excellent for a river. always something interesting to find on the bottom, thanks to the tubing industry.
