I am so happy because I did my first deep dive two weeks ago in Oahu, Hawaii. We went 93 feet deep to a shipwreck where we put an American flag up to honor the veterans on Memorial day weekend. It was great! I cannot wait to do another dive like this one again!

Hi Judith, I will be in Hawaii starting May 23rd. I have heard the manta ray dive is a must. Send me a message if you are intirested in meeting at a dive site. I always welcome a dive buddy!

One thing I don’t like when I go scuba diving is having to put the regulator in my mouth, not knowing where it has been, I am kind of a germ freak. Therefore, I am thinking of buying my own regulator or mouth piece to take with me when I go diving. Any advise of where to buy it? Should I buy the whole regulator or just the mouth piece?

Buying just a mouthpiece won’t help much as all the ’germs’ can still be found in the second stage housing. When buying your own gear, good disinfection procedures should still be used after each dive. If renting gear, you should ask how the gear was disinfected after its last use. Thanks Jeff, this is great information. I’d definitely like to have my own and make sure I disinfect it after every use. Do you know any website where I can buy it? Also, any other recommendations you think I should keep in mind when shopping for one? Thanks again!

As the owner of 2 LI Scuba shops of course I would love for you to come by, check out different regulators see the pros of each, and join our SCUBA family.... If LI doesn’t work, then I would be happy to give you some verbal recommendations..

I will be going to the Beneath The Sea event in Secaucus, NJ in March. This is going to be a great opportunity to network and meet not only local divers but divers from all over. It will also be a great opportunity to enhance your scuba diving knowledge. I am planning to attend two workshops and of course the parties ;-) here is the link for you to register, if interested.

Shit, I’m not leaving Hawaii to go to NJ. I’ve been to Beneath the Sea before, years ago. Enjoyed it, but no need to go to it again now that I’m settled down here in paradise. Thanks for the link though and you enjoy yourself.
